[Openswan Users] do I have to use ppp as the connection between freeradius and openswan+xl2tpd

I met a problem that when the client has a problem with his Internet
connection suddenly, the xl2tpd+openswan will kill the ppp interface but
won't tell ppp to kick off the client, so next time the client will failed
authenticate.
My question is if there is any other way to use xl2tpd+openswan+mysql (+with
or without freeradius)
