Thanks for your reply.
I actually manged to solve the problem already. It seems to me that the
aptitude installation package has a bug because the ipsec init script
ends up to /etc/rcS.d/ directory instead of 2 3 4 and 5 directories
which is the suggested default by the script itself.
After running these two commands ipsec managed to start on boot:
sudo update-rc.d -f ipsec remove
sudo update-rc.d ipsec start 41 2 3 4 5 . stop 34 0 1 6 .
As far as I understood me and Graeme both encountered this issue with
Ubuntu 9.10.
