Finally I got it sorted by adding:

virtual_private=%v4:10.0.0.0/8,%v4:192.168.0.0/16,%v4:172.16.0.0/12 
in config setup

and 
rightsubnet=vhost:%priv,%no
rightprotoport=17/%any

instead of just 

rightprotoport=17/0

in the ipsec/l2tp conn description.
ATM, I get both android and windows XP to connect to the service.
