An IP address can only live at 1 location. Where do you expect 192.168.1.0/24
to be? Behind the left linux box? behind the right linux box? Or between
the linux boxes?

Use 10.0.1.0/24 on the left and 10.0.2.0/24 on the right as your testcase.
