This should be "auto=add".

192.168.100.255 is probably your broadcast address so this range
should be 192.168.100.249-192.168.100.254

I'm not sure if there is anything wrong in that particular snippet.
Unless there is a serious interoperability problem you don't have
to enable pluto debugging. Could you set "plutodebug=none" and look
for any errors?

If all else fails, you could send me your 'ipsec barf' output.
