Jef,

I managed to update the Firmware so that the 827 supports 3Des,
apparently some versions do not.  The Cisco Web EasyVPN is anything but,
however Google saved the day finding startup-scripts to compare notes
on.  It is my understanding that you need to configure the router so
that it only NAT's traffic going out onto the Internet and *not* packets
going over the VPN.  This is achieved through Access Lists but my config
file is botched beyond belief.

OpenSwan works like a charm.
