I've compiled the pppd 2.4.2, and configured it to support ms-chap 1 & 2 (I've
checked if it worked). But there's no difference. The same problem occurs:

Dec 28 10:52:25 guardian l2tpd[27463]: control_finish: Peer requested tunnel 9
twice, ignoring second one.
Dec 28 10:52:29 guardian l2tpd[27463]: control_xmit: Unable to deliver closing
message for tunnel 27265. Destroying anyway.

And so on...
'Normal' xp clients can connect, the PPC cannot. The l2tp daemon does not even
try to run pppd, as I can see in the daemon.log (I posted greater part of the
log in my first mail).
The SA is established with no problems, as I can see in the log.

Does anyone have more ideas where the problem might be?
Jacco, do you know what else may cause the issue? (I could send you more logs
if you would like to help me more).

Regards,
Tom
