[Openswan Users] Openswan and Android

We have the latest implementation of OS running using Netkey along with Xauth for authentication. This configuration does NOT use L2TP. Looking for information on the web it seems that everyone needed to create an L2TP secession.  Has anyone made this work with the Android OS or IPhone without using L2TP or is it limited to the device ability to only configure itself that way?
