[Openswan Users] Openswan 2.4.x maintenance

I've tried and failed to compile the Openswan 2.6.x source code for a Centos-4 server (Linux kernel 2.4.9).  I can get the 2.4.15 release compiled though.  But with the last update having been in 2009, I'm not clear on whether it is maintained.  Is 2.4.15 patched against all known vulnerabilities in the code and considered to be suitable for use on the Internet?
