[Openswan Users] Sending the "Initial Contact" message

Hello,

I've encountered an intermittent problem when attempting to establish a VPN connection to a Cisco VPN aggregator from my Linux box.  It seems that the solution is to send the "Initial Contact" message when initiating the session.  The problem I have is that I do not know how to do this.  Is there a way to add this to my configuration?  Do I need to start looking at adding it to the source code (is it not supported by Openswan currently)?

Linux 2.6.17.7
Openswan 2.4.6
