Hi list:
   I am now using:
-bash-3.2$ sudo ipsec --version
Linux Openswan 2.6.21 (klips)
See `ipsec --copyright' for copyright information.
-bash-3.2$

and kernel:
-bash-3.2$ uname -r
2.6.28.9
-bash-3.2$

to connect to a server based on openswan 2.4.10,kernel 2.6.23-gentooo-r9

openswan 2.6.21 restart for serveral minutes. i found some error message
from syslog:

!pluto failure!: exited with error status 128

and then openswan restarted itself.

Basically,if pluto was kill by a signal, the exit status will be (128 +
SIGNO),but what is 128 means? is that means an exit(128) was called?why, and
how to fix it...
