If your link speeds are slow enough that compression is useful, I
wouldn't expect a measurable difference between AES and 3DES in terms of
CPU, both will probably be too small to measure. You need serious
traffic volume to stress a modern CPU these days.
And since compression is done before encryption, you wouldn't expect any
difference in compression ratio.
