I customized the release of the FC4 kernel so that I could differentiate
it from another installation.

Yep, not built into the kernel yet, just with the command above.  But so
far this ONLY occurs on 2.6.12 kernels, all my 2.6.15 and 2.6.16 builds
never gave this error for 2.4.5 or 2.4.4 (I think I stopped trying 2.4.2
on newer kernels when I hit build issues).
