[Openswan Users] Do I need NAT Traversal?

Hello,
My OS is RedHat 7.3 with a 2.4.32 kernel compiled.
My version of openswan is 2.2.0
I have it up and running on four machines, but I have a question on a new
install.
In my /etc/ipsec.conf file, I have
config setup
...
#nat_traversal=yes
...
I think that this means that I am not using NAT Traversal.
The question I have is that I have previously compiled NAT Traversal into
my other kernels with openswan,
but do I really need to do that for this install?
If I am commenting it out as above for all my /etc/ipsec.conf files, then
do I need to patch it into my kernel build?
Thanks in advance,
Joe
