[Openswan Users] could not open private key file

hello
 I've setup two gateways to start an ipsec tunnel
following instructions i've found in this website
"http://www.natecarlson.com/linux/ipsec-l2tp.php"
created keys and certificates for both gateways

filled the file "ipsec.secrets" as explained in the site
: RSA host.example.com.key "password"
( though I'm not quite sure which password to put in )

when starting ipsec, the tunnel is not up
 in the log, it complains :
