[Openswan Users] Routing through tunnel question

I've this config up and running:

Two openswan gw with public ip (IP1 , IP2) (no KLIPS) (kernel 2.6)

remote subnet 10.0.0.0/255.255.255.0
local subnet 10.1.0.0/255.255.255.0

when the tunnel is up my routing table on local gw says:

10.0.0.0 (destination) GW_IP 255.255.255.0(nemask) eth0
0.0.0.0 (destination) GW_IP 0.0.0.0 eth0

I want that some particular destination ip use a gateway on remote subnet
(suppose 10.0.0.2), adding

route add -net 1.1.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 gw 10.0.0.2

I obtain a network unreacheable error..... but if I try to ping 10.0.0.2 it
responds.

What I'm missing ? Route to remote GW isn't up ?
