Hi,
I think you can specify which algorithm to use by
"esp=algorithm-name" in ipsec.conf field.I have done
it long time before, may be you can read the manual
page of ipsec.conf file.You can also specify the IKE
algorithm using "ike=algorithm-name" in ipsec.conf
