I got 2.6.12.3 from kernel.org, applied the two patches
openswan-2.4.0dr8.kernel-2.6-klips.patch.gz
openswan-2.4.0dr8.kernel-2.6-natt.patch.gz

make menuconfig , so that .config contains:
.....
.....
CONFIG_KLIPS=m

#
# KLIPS options
#
CONFIG_KLIPS_ESP=y
# CONFIG_KLIPS_AH is not set
CONFIG_KLIPS_AUTH_HMAC_MD5=y
CONFIG_KLIPS_AUTH_HMAC_SHA1=y
CONFIG_KLIPS_ALG=y
# CONFIG_KLIPS_ENC_CRYPTOAPI is not set
CONFIG_KLIPS_ENC_3DES=y
CONFIG_KLIPS_ENC_AES=y
CONFIG_KLIPS_IPCOMP=y
.....
.....

make bzImage is okay,
make modules is okay
make modules_install gives:

  INSTALL sound/usb/usx2y/snd-usb-usx2y.ko
if [ -r System.map -a -x /sbin/depmod ]; then /sbin/depmod -ae -F
System.map  2.6.12.3-smp; fi

So that it did not surprise, that when modprobing ipsec:
modprobe ipsec
the fatal error occurs:
FATAL: Error inserting ipsec
(/lib/modules/2.6.12.3-smp/kernel/net/ipsec/ipsec.ko): Unknown symbol in
module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

Did I do something wrong or do others face the same situation?

Norbert
