Ah, OK, not much can be done then, other than accepting ACPI as a
mandatory patch, or switch to a non-patched kernel.

If this is for an i686/smp machine running the 2.4.22-1.2194.nptl
i686/smp kernel from RH, yes. But note that this kernel has no natt
support.
If you want natt for i686/smp use
kernel-smp-2.4.22-1.2194.nptl_50.rhfc1.at.i686.rpm
kernel-module-openswan-2.4.22-1.2194.nptl_50.rhfc1.atsmp-2.1.4-15.rhfc1.at.i686.rpm
openswan-2.1.4-15.rhfc1.at.i386.rpm
