All the ms-dns option does is tells the PPP stack on your Linux box to
send '192.168.1.1' as the primary DNS server. If you have an entry in DNS
named 'ms-dns', you should be able to ping using that name; if you don't,
you won't be able to ping that name.

Is DNS resolution for other hosts also not working?
