Subject: [saag] FYI: NIST posts CMAC for public comment

FYI,

The Draft NIST Special Publication 800-38B "Recommendation for Block Cipher
Modes of Operation: the CMAC Mode for Authentication" was posted for public
review today at:

      http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/drafts.html#sp800-38B

This Recommendation specifies the CMAC mode of operation for symmetric block
ciphers. CMAC is a cipher-based message authentication code algorithm based
on an approved block cipher such as the AES algorithm or TDEA. Additional
information on this document, related publications, and the development of
modes of operation in general is available at the modes home page:

      http://nist.gov/modes

Comments on SP 800-38B should be submitted to <EncryptionModes at nist.gov>.
NIST will be accepting comments on SP 800-38B until April 25, 2005.

Thanks,

Tim
